ActionIs Sacred Four worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want combat centered on throwing and steering a weapon
- Action-game fans who prefer a short, three-level structure with a boss at each endpoint
- Players who enjoy using arm movements to shape attacks rather than relying only on direct strikes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long campaign may find the three-level structure limited.
- Players looking for varied combat systems may find the focus on one chained sword restrictive.
- Players who prefer free movement may not want teleportation between fixed points.
Our take on Sacred Four
The combat is built around one chained sword, making its trajectory the central skill. That focus leaves less room for weapon variety, while teleporting between fixed points limits movement during level traversal.
What is Sacred Four?
Wield Ziegwen, a sword attached to a chain, by throwing it at monsters and guiding its flight with arm movements.
Its path changes with those movements, allowing a throw to pierce several monsters in sequence. If the sword catches on a monster or rock, grab it and swing to finish the fight. Movement between combat areas uses teleportation to fixed points in each level. The game has three levels, each ending with a boss that must be defeated to clear it. Combat centers on controlling the sword’s trajectory and using it at close range when it gets stuck. The game received first prize at the GFF Awards 2018.
How Sacred Four plays
- 01Guided sword throws
- Arm movements alter the weapon’s route, and a well-directed throw can hit several monsters in succession.
- 02Close-range follow-up
- When the sword catches on a monster or rock, it can be swung to finish the encounter.
- 03Fixed-point teleportation
- Travel between set locations in each level uses teleportation.
- 04Boss-ending levels
- The three-level campaign requires defeating a boss at the end of each stage.
