Our take on Rytmos
The defining structure is a series of cubic planets, with maze puzzles on each side turning their solutions into musical loops.
What is Rytmos?
Rytmos is a puzzle game in which solving mazes creates music.
Players travel between planets and work through puzzles on each side of their cubic surfaces. The solutions produce short musical loops that gradually combine into fuller compositions, with sequences that change as the loops layer together. The music draws on styles from around the world, including Zimbabwean kalimba-based music, Ethiopian jazz, German electronic music, Indonesian gamelan and Japanese environmental music. Playing also unlocks more than 20 instruments and sound modifiers for jamming with a planet’s loops. Examples include kalimba, percussion, vibraphone, gamelan percussion, synthesizers, bit crusher, low-pass filter, delay and stutters.
