Players face gangs, infected animals, and wildlife while exploring abandoned, partly destroyed cities, enterprises, and military facilities. The game includes tool creation, firearms and melee weapons, close combat, base construction, and defenses. Players can join groups and clans in multiplayer sandbox mode. Character condition mechanics include bleeding, wounds, hunger, and thirst. Clothing, weapons, and armor can be changed. The world also features a day-night cycle and dynamic weather.
