RPGIs Romestead worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want settlement building and production to accompany survival combat
- Groups of friends who want cooperative exploration and farming for up to eight players
- Players who want resource hauling and trade routes alongside dungeons and boss encounters
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted adventure may not want a procedurally generated world combined with settlement development.
- Players looking for combat without gathering, hauling, farming, or production may find the broader survival loop too involved.
- Players who specifically want a single-player-only game may not want a title built for both solo and multiplayer worlds.
Our take on Romestead
The game gives physical resource handling a prominent role: heavy materials must be carried separately or moved with a cart train. That choice adds logistical work to gathering, so resource collection involves transport decisions rather than only picking items up.
What is Romestead?
Romestead is an action-adventure survival game set after Rome’s fall.
Explore a procedurally generated world, gather materials, and develop a camp into a settlement while fighting undead enemies at night. Logs, rocks, and ores exist as physical objects that can be carried individually or moved with a cart train. Recruit survivors as artisans, then establish towns for crafting, farming, automated production, and trade between settlements. Discovering biomes allows more specialized settlements.
Offerings and sacrifices can restore the Roman gods and provide technologies, buffs, and upgrades. Dungeons contain enemies and puzzles, while bosses guard further challenges and rewards. The game supports solo play and multiplayer for up to eight players, with difficulty scaling by player count. Multiplayer worlds can use hosted servers or peer-to-peer connections.
