Our take on Rift Riff
The forgiving rules reduce the cost of experimentation, but they also lessen the pressure often associated with tower defense. Fixed construction points further limit improvisation, trading placement freedom for focused tower selection and wave planning.
What is Rift Riff?
Rift Riff is a tower defense game where players choose a group of towers for each scenario and place them at fixed points on the map.
Monsters arrive in waves, targeting either the Extractor, the main tower, or nearby towers according to their behavior. Juice earned during waves pays for construction and upgrades. Completing defenses awards prisms, which unlock additional rifts, towers, companions, and upgrades.
The game includes 20 worlds with at least two scenarios each, 17 tower types, 7 upgrades, 25 monster types, 6 companions, and 45 challenges. Its recovery systems include scheduled construction, full refunds for unwanted towers, free tower respawns after a wave, and retrying only the final wave after losing the Extractor. The full game features approximately 15–20 hours of gameplay.
