Our take on Repressed

Rather than giving players a conventional body with familiar movement, the game makes its protagonist a shadow governed by light, surfaces, and viewpoint. Exploration becomes a matter of reshaping space and perception, while the surrounding journey centers on fragmented memories.

What is Repressed?

Repressed follows a shadow version of the player character through a Memory Palace.

The shadow’s unusual form shapes both the story and the gameplay: it requires light to exist, cannot safely pass through dark areas, and must move along surfaces rather than simply jumping over obstacles. Players negotiate the environment by changing light angles, perspectives, and camera views to solve spatial puzzles. The journey also involves collecting fragments of memory and piecing together the past. Its visual presentation draws from an Etruscan sculpture and several artists, while the soundtrack was composed by Bogdan Mizerski. The game presents its exploration as a symbolic journey through memories, with the shadow’s physical rules replacing conventional character movement.

How Repressed plays

01Light-Based Movement
The playable shadow depends on illumination and is threatened by dark areas.
02Perspective Puzzles
Adjusting the viewpoint and the direction of light changes how the shadow interacts with obstacles.
03Memory Collection
Scattered memory fragments contribute to reconstructing the character’s past.
04Surface Travel
The shadow moves across surfaces, requiring alternatives to ordinary jumping.
05Original Soundtrack
Bogdan Mizerski composed the music accompanying the journey.

Jusant is an action-puzzle climbing game focused on ascending a tall tower, managing climbing tools and stamina, and choosing routes.
