Our take on ReFactory
Rather than making the player operate a single character, ReFactory places the focus on observing and directing an automated industrial network. Its strategy structure combines production planning with city defense, while terrain, resources, and enemy presence can be adjusted before play.
What is ReFactory?
ReFactory is a 2D strategy game about constructing and managing an automated factory on an alien planet.
After a spacecraft crash scatters the crew and damages its equipment, the player acts as the ship’s artificial intelligence, building a city and restoring systems to locate the team and return home. Gameplay begins with gathering materials such as ore, timber, crystals, granite, and oil, then turns them into equipment, electrical systems, and increasingly complex products. New territories provide space for additional factories and city growth. Research progresses through microelectronics, chemical reactions, explosives, and plastics. Defensive systems include walls, mines, cannons, chemical weapons, and drones. Settings can adjust terrain, resources, danger, and monster attacks.
How ReFactory plays
- 01Automated Production
- Drones perform the work while factories turn gathered materials into equipment and more advanced products.
- 02Technology Progression
- Research advances from basic technology toward microelectronics, chemical reactions, explosives, and plastics.
- 03Alien Planet Expansion
- Opening new territory creates space for additional factories and the growth of the city.
- 04City Defense
- Protect the settlement with walls, mines, cannons, chemical weapons, and armed drones.
- 05Custom Planet Settings
- Choose the terrain type, resource quantity, and danger level, including an option to disable monster attacks.
ReFactory compared to similar games
Creeper World 4 centers on resisting fluid enemy waves while building an economic base and assembling forces. ReFactory instead focuses on automated factories, resource transformation, technology research, city construction, and configurable alien-world defenses.
