- Players who prefer short, self-contained scenarios may not suit the limited-time station crisis and career progression
Our take on Redshirt
Its defining structure is a turn-based social network simulation: career advancement, romance, friendships, and status management all take place through Spacebook while a station-wide calamity approaches.
What is Redshirt?
Play as a low-ranking worker on Megalodon-9, a space station where residents use the mandatory Spacebook social network.
Create a character from five species, then build relationships with procedurally generated citizens whose personalities and profile images vary between games. Post updates, like statuses, send private messages, and arrange events with friends, rivals, and officers. Career advancement can come through skills, romance, friendships, or social maneuvering across a non-linear career tree. Items from the station shop can raise statistics and skills. The game uses turn-based play and a limited timeframe while an approaching calamity threatens the station. Character settings can shape the personalities encountered, and outcomes include career progress, relationships, off-station transfer, and away missions.
