Our take on Recursed
The playful list of acid, graphics, and sound effects gives the presentation a quirky tone, but the actual game loop is focused and specific: manipulating rooms to solve logic puzzles. Combat, danger, and conventional platforming hazards are deliberately absent.
What is Recursed?
Recursed is a 2D puzzle-platform game built around rooms that can also function as movable items.
Each level requires reaching a crystal by rearranging boxes, using keys, opening doors, and entering or relocating rooms through chests. The world structure can be duplicated, destroyed, or changed as part of the puzzle-solving process. The game contains over 60 levels with hundreds of rooms, plus hidden bonus puzzles. There are no enemies, deaths, pits, or spikes, so progression centers on logic rather than combat or survival. An atmospheric soundtrack accompanies the levels, along with sound effects, graphics, and large amounts of acid.
How Recursed plays
- 01Room-based puzzles

- 03Large level count
- The game includes over 60 stages containing hundreds of rooms.
- 04Bonus challenges
- Additional puzzles are concealed beyond the main levels.
- 05No combat hazards
- There are no enemies, fatal falls, or spikes, keeping the focus on logic puzzles.
