Our take on Real Warfare 2: Northern Crusades
Its defining structure is the split between a freely navigable real-time map and tactical battles, with campaign progress connecting the two modes.
What is Real Warfare 2: Northern Crusades?
Play as a Komtur of the Teutonic Order during the 13th-century conquest of pagan Prussia.
A single campaign links the battles into a historical storyline. Outside combat, a real-time strategic map supports free movement, conversations with local characters, quests, and RPG elements. Battles use a tactical system shaped by up to 80 factors, including morale and battlefield conditions. Armies can fight in open engagements or attack and defend towns and castles with siege equipment. Troops retain experience between battles, while environmental modifiers affect tactics. Multiplayer modes support 2 to 6 participants on dedicated Internet servers, with results recorded in an online Hall of Fame. The game presents period armor, weapons, animations, and battle scenes.
How Real Warfare 2: Northern Crusades plays
- 01Persistent troop progression
- Units keep experience earned in one battle when entering later engagements in the campaign.
- 02Morale-based combat

- 03Strategic travel map
- The non-battle mode allows real-time movement, conversations, quests, and encounters with characters.

- 05Six-player network battles
- Dedicated Internet servers support battles involving 2 to 6 participants, with results saved to an online Hall of Fame.
