Our take on Quiplash
The emphasis on an audience of thousands may suggest a large-scale event format, but the core game is a same-room activity for 3-8 players. Audience members can vote while waiting, rather than replacing the small group at the center of each matchup.
What is Quiplash?
Quiplash is a same-room party game for 3-8 players, with additional audience members able to join while waiting for the next game.
Players use phones or tablets as controllers to respond to simple prompts, such as imagining an unusual donkey behavior or completing a bad soup flavor. Each response is matched against another player's answer in a head-to-head comparison. Players and audience members then vote for their preferred response. The game has no fixed correct answers or stated rules for what responses must say, leaving the humor to the participants. It is available in English only and requires players to share the same room.
How Quiplash plays
- 01Prompt-based answers
- Players submit responses to short questions and sentence-completion prompts using a phone or tablet.
- 02Head-to-head voting
- Responses are paired against another player's entry before participants choose a favorite.
- 03Audience participation
- People waiting to enter the next game can vote alongside the active players.
- 04Phone controllers
- Mobile phones and tablets serve as the input devices during play.
Quiplash compared to similar games
Quiplash centers on written responses to prompts, head-to-head answer pairings, and group voting. Feign's described drawing mode instead has 4-8 players sketching around a secret word while one player acts as an impostor. The Jackbox Party Pack 7 includes Quiplash 3 alongside four other party games, while this listing focuses on the single Quiplash format.
