Our take on The Jackbox Party Pack 9
The collection trades unified progression for variety across five separate party games. Its remote format also requires a host to share the game through streaming or video conferencing, and the absence of matchmaking limits online sessions to arranged groups.
What is The Jackbox Party Pack 9?
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 contains five party games: Fibbage 4, Quixort, Junktopia, Nonsensory, and Roomerang.
Fibbage 4 centers on bluffing through trivia, while Quixort has teams sort falling answers into the correct order and includes a solo mode. Junktopia asks players to create stories for unusual objects before they are appraised. Nonsensory combines drawing, writing, and guessing, and Roomerang uses prompts, role-play, and voting. Games support between 1 and 10 players, depending on the title, with up to 10,000 audience members able to affect outcomes.
Phones and tablets serve as controllers. Remote groups can connect through livestreaming or video conferencing, but there is no online matchmaking. English is available at launch; French, Italian, German, and Spanish localization is planned in a forthcoming patch.
