Our take on Puerto Viejo
The focus on brief, self-contained mini-games keeps the structure varied, but limits sustained adventure depth. The linear story also leaves less room for player-directed exploration or alternate progression paths.
What is Puerto Viejo?
Follow Miguel, a young boy pursuing his father’s path, through a linear story set during the Spanish Golden Age.
The game combines character dialogue with assorted 2D mini-games, each divided into three levels and focused on timing and reflexes. Completing the story opens Sailor mode, where any mini-game can be replayed from a selection screen, with four levels for each game. Finishing both Story and Sailor mode grants a reward and unlocks Hat Mode, an extended story variant with five levels per mini-game. Exploration takes place across a city and its surroundings, with a cast of characters appearing along the way.
How Puerto Viejo plays

- 03Sailor Mode
- After the story is completed, this mode provides replay access through a selection screen and gives each activity four stages.
- 04Hat Mode
- Completing the first two modes unlocks an extended story variant with five stages for every mini-game.
