Our take on Prompt
Its focus on severe platforming difficulty gives up accessibility for players seeking a forgiving pace. The minimalist presentation also leaves less room for visual variety, while the level editor shifts some of the experience toward repeated challenge-building and solving.
What is Prompt?
Prompt is a minimalist retro platformer built around high difficulty.
Each level presents a different challenge and asks for a different completion method. Movement includes double jumps, simulated gravity, and physics for moving platforms. The game uses a 1-bit visual style and an extra-widescreen 5:4 aspect ratio. A full level editor lets players create and share custom levels with friends. The music was produced by Matt Simmonds. Its structure focuses on individual platforming challenges rather than a broader adventure or role-playing progression.
How Prompt plays
- 01Custom Level Editor
- Players can build stages and share them with friends.
- 02Double-Jump Movement
- The platforming rules include a second jump while airborne.
- 03Moving Platform Physics
- Some traversal challenges use platforms with physical movement.
- 04One-Bit Visuals
- The presentation uses a two-color visual palette.
- 05Varied Level Challenges
- Stages require different completion approaches instead of repeating one central task.
