Our take on Prime Monster
Rather than treating politics as negotiation within orderly institutions, the game makes coercion, assassination, scandal, and absurd legislation part of the core card-play loop. Its parliament is a hostile roguelike arena where retaining office matters more than maintaining decorum.
What is Prime Monster?
Prime Monster is a card-based political roguelike set in a parliament of monsters.
Each card presents a choice: use its direct effect or convert it into Political Capital for personal Tactics. Winning votes may involve bullying, blackmail, threats, or violence, while proposed laws range from decriminalising arson to permitting same-hex marriage. The campaign tracks authority, Political Capital, poll rating, and cash as party members, opponents, the public, and scandals pressure the player. Thirty representatives from 15 parties react to policies and personal conduct. Three playable political archetypes offer different starting identities, while pledges, resignations, and controversial decisions shape each attempt to retain power.
