Our take on Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two
Rather than separating adventure-game puzzles from RPG combat, this episode places both in the same progression loop. Character creation also crosses presentation styles, showing the player character in 3D gameplay and comic-style 2D scenes.
What is Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two?
This RPG-adventure follows Gabe and Tycho through New Arcadia, an alternate 1920s setting populated by familiar and new Penny Arcade characters.
It can be played as a standalone episode. Players create a character shown in 3D and in comic-style 2D scenes, then investigate mysteries, solve puzzles, and fight enemies in turn-based encounters with animated attacks and team moves. Adventure-game exploration is combined with RPG systems, while story and dialogue support the series’ adult humor. A progression system carries the created character’s statistics, abilities, and inventory across episodes.
