Our take on Popup Dungeon
Rather than keeping players inside a fixed campaign structure, this RPG makes construction part of the genre. Its node-based tools let players assemble adventures, alter completed games with custom modes, and create abilities, items, heroes, and villains.
What is Popup Dungeon?
Popup Dungeon combines turn-based tactical combat with roguelike progression and ideas drawn from tabletop gaming.
It offers branching narrative campaigns, run-based challenges, and 25 scenarios in The Wizard’s Tower. Initial content provides more than 1,500 abilities, 420 items, over 200 enemies with full voice acting, and 36 selectable heroes. Players can link nodes into custom games, design abilities and equipment, import their own images and audio, and direct opposing forces as the dungeon master. Teams support 1–5 characters. Charms grant lasting party improvements, while sandbox modes can alter finished games through randomized foes, added companions, new abilities, or stricter rules. Multiplayer operates through Steam Remote Play, with gold codes awarded to participants when a run ends.

Popup Dungeon compared to similar games
