- Players who do not enjoy repeated enemy-shooting runs may tire of the central combat loop
Our take on Planetbound
The bounce point arrives on the first collision: Planetbound uses one-hit death, so players who need room to recover from mistakes will be stopped before its upgrade system can soften the difficulty.
What is Planetbound?
Planetbound is a 2D arcade shoot-'em-up centered on defending a planet from attacks by beings from other planets.
A single hit ends the run. Shooting enemies prevents XP from being drawn toward the player, while destroying them can produce XP orbs, with additional XP available for meeting certain kill conditions. Slashing deflects incoming projectiles and deals heavy damage. Collected XP upgrades planet components. Rock components improve weapons through effects such as greater range, lasers, and extra projectiles. Tree components create a planet-wide shield and increase movement speed.
How Planetbound plays
- 01One-Hit Runs
- A single enemy hit causes the player to die.
- 02Projectile Deflection
- The slash action can turn incoming projectiles aside and inflict heavy damage.
- 03XP Orb Collection
- Enemy defeats can generate collectible XP orbs, with bonus XP tied to particular kill conditions.
- 04Planet Component Upgrades
- Rock components modify weapons, while tree components provide a planet-wide shield and raise speed.
