Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, linear campaign may find the procedurally generated run structure unsuitable
- Players who prefer quiet exploration may find the combat-heavy focus and frequent enemy encounters repetitive
- Players looking for a deep role-playing system may find the listed progression centered on equipment, suits, allies, and station expansion
- Players seeking a climbing puzzle game or a multiplayer shooter may prefer alternatives built around those formats
Our take on Planetary Dustoff
The repeated-run structure supports varied equipment choices and changing planets, but it gives up the predictability of a fixed campaign. Progression is also centered on suits, gear, allies, and station additions rather than a stated class or dialogue system.
What is Planetary Dustoff?
Planetary Dustoff is a space-themed roguelite shooter set across three procedurally generated planets.
Runs involve fighting large groups of alien enemies, confronting bosses, and uncovering secrets in different environments. Four suits offer distinct equipment and abilities, including a medical suit with a syringe gun and a sword-focused knight suit. More than 100 weapons and items include firearms, melee weapons, pets, and deployable turrets. Rescued allies can be used to expand the Space Station with decorations. The game also includes Lua scripting support for player and community creations, plus a 45-minute original soundtrack supplied in uncompressed form. Its story follows the Planetary Survey Program and the search for a new home for humanity.

Planetary Dustoff compared to similar games
Abyssus also combines multiplayer shooting with roguelite runs, while Planetary Dustoff focuses on three procedurally generated planets, suit selection, station expansion, and Lua scripting. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a chaotic metroidvania, so its structure centers on that format rather than Planetary Dustoff’s shooter runs and equipment pool.
