Our take on Pairs & Perils
The memory-game structure makes card recall central to every encounter, leaving less room for conventional real-time combat. Relic and consumable purchases add build choices, while traps and enemy counters attach immediate turn and damage costs to dungeon decisions.
What is Pairs & Perils?
Pairs & Perils blends memory-based card play with roguelike dungeon exploration.
Players study a spread of cards, then combine each hero with the weapon that suits them to strike foes while avoiding hazards. A trap inflicts damage and forfeits the active turn. Foes have countdowns that move toward their attacks as rounds pass. Victories lead to the Merchant’s Goods, where relics with conditional passive effects and single-use battle cards can be bought. Hostile abilities may take gold, add skeleton cards to the table, or break collected relics. Each run ends with a boss encounter in the dungeon’s deepest chamber, and the available boss may change between attempts. Relics and consumables can be mixed into different run builds.
