Is Overdungeon worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Card-game fans who want real-time battles instead of turn-based encounters
- Roguelike players who prefer changing maps and random events
- Strategy players who enjoy building decks around unusual animal and building cards
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed campaign may find the random map and event structure repetitive or unpredictable
- Players who prefer slow, turn-based card play may not enjoy the active battle pacing
- Players looking for a conventional fantasy deck may not want humorous animal, pet, and poultry-themed cards
Our take on Overdungeon
The real-time card system sacrifices the slower planning pace associated with turn-based deck builders. Card draws, active encounters, and changing events make decisions depend on timing and run conditions rather than deck planning alone.
What is Overdungeon?
Overdungeon combines real-time card battles with rogue-like progression and tower-defense elements.
Players assemble decks from more than 100 cards covering attacks, animals, buildings, spells, and traps, then use them against dungeon enemies. Battles blend card timing with real-time strategy, requiring cards to be drawn and played during each run. The dungeon map changes between plays and includes more than 50 event types, including encounters that can offer different risks and rewards. Randomly appearing relics can alter the deck or card-draw order. The game also features humorous cards depicting animals, pets, poultry, and other themed elements. Runs end with an attempt to defeat the dungeon’s boss.

Overdungeon compared to similar games
Overdungeon combines real-time card battles, tower-defense elements, roguelike map changes, and deck building. NEOVERSE also combines roguelite progression, deck building, and strategy, but its description presents a time-warping multiverse adventure with unique heroes rather than Overdungeon’s tower-defense structure, changing dungeon events, and animal- and building-themed cards.
