Our take on Outshine
Putting combat and menus on the keyboard keeps the control scheme focused, but leaves out other input methods. The pace and emphasis on learning enemy behavior also make it less suited to players seeking a relaxed, exploratory action game.
What is Outshine?
Outshine is an arcade typing game in which keyboard input is used to attack enemies.
Play as Hue, whose powers were unleashed after the Shards experimented on it, and pursue revenge by using special abilities against opponents. Each world has its own pace, enemies, and bosses, so progress involves learning enemy behavior and using different powers. Traps add another hazard to avoid. Game modifiers let players change the rules, finish the game under different settings, and replay with a customized setup. A leaderboard tracks players competing for top positions. The keyboard controls both combat and menus, and keys can be rebound for different layouts, including Qwerty, Azerty, Qwertz, Dvorak, Colemak, and BÉPO.
