Our take on Out of Orbit
Rather than centering on a single hero’s progression, the game puts the spacecraft and its crew at the center of play. Construction, crew schedules, survival meters, factions, piracy, and randomly generated universes replace the more fixed party-and-quest structure common in many space RPGs.
What is Out of Orbit?
Out of Orbit combines spacecraft construction, resource management, exploration, and combat across randomly generated universes.
Players design ships, stations, and planetary bases, assign rooms, and manage power, fuel, oxygen, thirst, hunger, and radiation. Crew members can receive roles, jobs, and schedules, while happiness, loyalty, mental health, illnesses, and diseases are part of crew management. Exploration includes asteroids, comets, landable planets, wormholes, and distinct sectors. Players can collect raw materials, trade, recruit crew, raid or infiltrate enemy vessels, and encounter factions and bosses. Ships are destructible, and the game includes an editor with Steam Workshop support and more than 500 items.
