What is Our Darker Purpose?
Our Darker Purpose is a top-down, rogue-like action RPG set in the Edgewood Home for Lost Children, where Cordy battles feral classmates, creatures, and dangerous bosses while ascending through a Victorian orphanage.
Each playthrough uses uniquely generated levels and offers route choices between different encounters. Death is permanent, but completed runs provide resources for upgrades and lasting progress. When Cordy levels up, one of two abilities becomes available, allowing different combat builds such as a bruiser, glass cannon, or assassin. The game combines fast combat, randomized perks, enemy mechanics, and an unfolding story about missing adults and the Administrators’ purpose.
