Our take on OFF
Its focus on a single sacred mission and movement between defined zones gives the journey a clear direction, but leaves less room for open-ended exploration or unrelated activities. Puzzles, combat, and transport logistics all serve the central purification quest rather than forming separate play styles.
What is OFF?
OFF is a role-playing game about the Batter, who pursues a sacred mission to purify an uncanny world haunted by specters.
Guided by the cryptic Judge, the player travels through different zones filled with strange beings and modern conveniences. Progress involves solving puzzles, fighting hostile individuals, and managing the routes and logistics of swan boats and interurban locomotives. The journey features a network of zones to explore, with the Batter confronting residents and threats along the way. The Judge accompanies the Batter during important parts of the quest, while the story presents encounters with figures such as the Queen’s protector of Zone 1.
