Our take on Obey the Voice™
Instead of treating horror as a space for free exploration, the game replaces that structure with standing rules, task-specific instructions, and repeated checks under pressure. Its fixed encounters make attention and timing the central challenge, while immediate punishment removes the safe pauses common in slower horror games.
What is Obey the Voice™?
After an accident, a consciousness backup places the player under the direction of The Voice while questions about identity emerge.
The game combines psychological horror with rule-based challenges and tasks that require attention, timing, and decisions under pressure. Players must follow section-specific instructions alongside four standing rules, including ignoring unfamiliar voices, avoiding non-human beings, responding to signs of movement, and pressing the correct button after completing a task. Mistakes bring immediate punishment, and there is no safe area. Challenges are fixed rather than randomized, with simultaneous demands and situations where acting too early or too late can lead to repeated deaths. A full playthrough is intended to take about 90 minutes.
How Obey the Voice™ plays
- 01Fixed Challenge Design
- Each encounter is deliberately arranged instead of being generated through random events.
- 02Persistent Rules
- Four standing instructions remain in force across sections unless The Voice changes them.
- 03Immediate Consequences
- Errors are punished at once, while lingering after a task can also lead to death.
- 04Photorealistic Environments
- The game presents its settings with a high-fidelity visual style.
