Our take on Oasis: Dark Forest
The game departs from fixed tower-defense progression by making each run a sequence of changing resource and enemy conditions. Upgrade choices and optional evacuation replace a simple push through predetermined waves with decisions about both power and risk.
What is Oasis: Dark Forest?
Oasis: Dark Forest combines tower defense and base construction in a forest ruled by ghosts.
The main objective is to protect a holy tree by planting trees that form defensive lines. Each level has a customized terrain structure, while trees, monsters, and resources are generated randomly. After each enemy rank is defeated, the game offers three evolution items, and the selected upgrade affects the current battle. At specific ranks, evacuation allows the collected gains to be secured, while continuing the fight can produce greater rewards but also risks losing everything from that battle. Resources gathered in levels are used to develop a Technology Tree for subsequent battles. The game also includes exploration and roguelike elements.
How Oasis: Dark Forest plays

- Each level keeps its terrain structure while trees, monsters, and resources change between games.
- 02Evolution Choices
- Defeating an enemy rank presents three items from which to select an upgrade.
- 03Evacuation Decisions
- Specific enemy ranks offer a chance to leave with gains instead of risking them in a continued fight.
- 04Technology Tree
- Resources collected during levels are used to gain additional power in later battles.
- 05Tree Defense Lines
- Planted trees stand between the holy tree and the ghost army.
Oasis: Dark Forest compared to similar games
Anomaly: Warzone Earth uses a reversed tower-defense formula in which players save Earth from an alien onslaught, while Oasis: Dark Forest builds planted-tree defenses around a holy tree against ghosts. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines cooperative tower defense with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization; Oasis instead focuses on randomized forest runs, evolution choices, evacuation, and Technology Tree progression.
