Our take on Netherguild
The expedition format trades uninterrupted dungeon progress for repeated supply decisions. Ability uses and inventory space limit what a party can carry and how often it can use powerful skills, while returning to resupply breaks up each descent.
What is Netherguild?
Netherguild is a turn-based tactics RPG and roguelite about leading adventurer expeditions beneath the earth.
Each descent combines dungeon exploration, grid-based battles, resource management, and choices from underground oddities. Campfires provide places to rest and eat, while food can apply passive effects and permanent changes to guild members or the expedition. Combat uses no random hit rolls, but enemies may resist a strategy, impose harmful effects, or create unexpected situations. Abilities have limited uses and inventory space is restricted, so expeditions eventually return above ground to resupply. Characters can survive between runs, gain levels, and retain equipment. Random gear, character backgrounds, skills, and generated layouts vary each playthrough, while above-ground events and story discoveries develop over time.
How Netherguild plays
- 01Campfire Expeditions
- Resting and eating underground can apply passive effects or permanent changes to guild members and the expedition.
- 02Fixed-Hit Combat
- Attacks do not use random hit rolls, leaving equipment and level-up abilities as the basis for successful strikes.
- 03Limited Supplies
- Ability uses and inventory capacity constrain what an expedition can carry and how often powerful abilities can be used.
- 04Persistent Characters
- Surviving adventurers keep their progress, equipment, and levels between expeditions.
- 05Procedural Runs
- Underground layouts, equipment, and character backgrounds with different skills vary across playthroughs.
