Our take on Neko Loop
Its defining structure is the Frustration meter: decisions raise it throughout a run, and reaching its peak forces a boss encounter.
What is Neko Loop?
Neko Loop is a resource-management roguelike where Selina faces enemies, bosses, secrets, and challenges while trying to break a cycle and return home.
Basic attacks run semi-automatically, while active skills let players use shields, healing, and battle-timing effects. Cards provide resources and can alter stages, while equipment changes Selina’s stats. Decisions increase Frustration, and reaching its peak brings a powerful boss encounter. Players prepare decks, defeat enemies, gain experience, level up, equip items, and learn perks before these fights. The game includes a 7-adventure campaign and an Infinite Mode expansion. Each mode has its own skill tree with hundreds of permanent upgrades, alongside challenges, hidden secrets, and record-based progression.
How Neko Loop plays
- 01Semi-automatic combat
- Selina performs standard attacks while players control active abilities such as shields, healing, and timing effects.
- 02Frustration-driven bosses
- Accumulating Frustration eventually triggers a boss encounter, making progress management part of preparation.
- 03Deck and equipment building
- Players prepare decks before runs, collect cards from defeated enemies, and equip items that modify Selina’s stats.
- 04Permanent skill trees
- The campaign and Infinite Mode each provide a skill tree containing hundreds of lasting upgrades.
- 05Seven-adventure campaign
- The main game is structured around a 7-adventure campaign alongside an Infinite Mode expansion.
Neko Loop compared to similar games
Neko Loop combines semi-automatic combat, deck preparation, equipment, and Frustration-triggered bosses with a 7-adventure campaign and Infinite Mode. Quasimorph is also a high-stakes roguelike, but its description centers on cyberpunk contracts, extraction, death consequences, and strengthening a PMC rather than cards and skill-driven battles.
