Our take on Navalia
The store page gives substantial attention to ship construction and battles, but gives less detail about the wider conquest structure. It names travel, resources, experience, research, and expansion without explaining how those systems connect during play.
What is Navalia?
Navalia is a real-time strategy game about designing, building, and commanding a fleet of spaceships.
The ship editor allows new vessels to be created and existing ones improved before battle. Conquest provides resources and experience for expanding the fleet and researching new ship parts. Players travel across the galaxy, defeat enemies, protect the home system, and seek to extend their dominance. Battles can include hundreds of procedurally generated enemy units. Fleet customization and battle tactics shape encounters as ships fight across the galaxy. Minimalist graphics offer zoom levels that show either the entire star system or individual ship parts in operation. Navalia was developed by a one-person studio in Helsinki, Finland.
How Navalia plays
- 01Ship Editor
- New vessels can be created, while existing designs can be modified before entering battle.
- 02Fleet Research
- Resources and experience earned through conquest support fleet expansion and research into new ship parts.
- 03Large-Scale Battles
- Fights can include hundreds of enemies generated procedurally.
- 04Multi-Level Zoom
- The camera can show the whole star system or individual ship parts at work.
Navalia compared to similar games
Navalia focuses on real-time space combat, custom ship construction, fleet expansion, and research into ship parts. Men of War: Assault Squad instead presents a World War II setting centered on direct control of individual units and hands-on battlefield combat.
