Our take on MoonMiners
The store page foregrounds betrayal, alien attacks, and corporate pressure, but the core work also consists of repeated operational tasks: repairs, role assignment, scanning, extraction, processing, and delivery. The game’s distinct tension comes from combining routine quota work with hidden sabotage and active friendly fire.
What is MoonMiners?
MoonMiners is a cooperative survival game set on a dangerous lunar base in a dystopian future.
Each session is a separate mission in which miners work toward a corporate extraction quota. Players restore base systems, assign responsibilities, scan for deposits, extract and process ore, prepare cargo, and deliver materials. Alien creatures threaten the crew while a hidden traitor can sabotage equipment, steal resources, disrupt operations, or kill colleagues.
Friendly fire remains active, so mistakes and firefights can harm teammates. The crew can use base equipment, including lunar rovers, to travel across the surface and move collected materials. The game supports team play and solo play, with survival depending on repairs, mining work, quota progress, and responses to internal and external threats.
How MoonMiners plays
- 01Separate Missions
- Each game takes place as its own assignment on a hazardous lunar base.
- 02Hidden Traitor
- One crew member may pursue secret goals such as sabotage, theft, disruption, or murder.
- 03Lunar Rovers
- Rovers can carry miners and collected materials across the moon's surface.
- 04Active Friendly Fire
- Weapon mistakes and chaotic firefights can injure members of the same crew.
MoonMiners compared to similar games
MoonMiners combines cooperative lunar mining, base restoration, quota delivery, and a hidden traitor within each mission. Mr. Prepper focuses on building an underground shelter and crafting in a nuclear-war survival setting, while Quasimorph centers on corporate contracts, extraction, and persistent rewards in a high-stakes roguelike.
