Our take on MonCon
Its convention setting trades a conventional adventure structure for a dense event simulation, with panels, vendors, minigames, collectibles, and side activities competing for attention alongside Joey’s central objective.
What is MonCon?
Attend a 24-hour convention on remote Mondoton Island as Joey, a teenager dealing with social anxiety who wants an autograph from game designer Mr.
Miyashiro. Joey experiences ordinary people as monsters and faces them in a psychedelic, rhythm-based battle system. Karl, a self-described geek, and Marnie, an investigative podcaster, accompany him during the event. MonCon includes dozens of monstrous personalities, over 120 attendees, side quests, collectibles, hidden secrets, trading, cosplay activities, panels, celebrity appearances, vendors, and at least 10 retro arcade minigames. The convention also features a planned reveal of a virtual-reality game, with limited helmets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
