Our take on Midautumn
Players seeking a single, fixed campaign may bounce off the repeated Spirit World visits and changing dungeon structure. The pressure point arrives between runs, when progression, ancestral Gifts, and journal growth become part of the route forward.
What is Midautumn?
Midautumn is a supernatural action RPG about Robin Lam, who arrives at their grandmother’s home and becomes guardian of a Spirit World beneath the basement.
Players fight evil spirits in a rogue-like dungeon crawler, absorb lunar powers from enemies, and reflect those powers back at them. Each visit reveals more of the story, while the changing Spirit World creates different runs. Ancestral spirits offer dozens of Gifts that modify abilities and support hundreds of character builds. Between runs, the Practitioner’s Journal provides permanent growth. In Nambo Quay, players meet local characters, deepen relationships, and encounter hundreds of story events connected to the town’s gentrification and Asian diaspora culture.
