Our take on Maze Keeper
Its defining structure reverses the usual dungeon crawler: the player guards the labyrinth, places monsters, and tries to stop the adventurer from reaching the exit.
What is Maze Keeper?
Play as the guardian of a haunted maze rather than the adventurer.
Place monsters throughout a procedurally generated labyrinth and stop the invading character from reaching the exit. The game combines tower defense, roguelike progression, and auto-battler mechanics. Each run uses a new maze layout, which can be rerolled before starting. Monster families have distinct specialties, while stronger creatures can also be harder to position. Cards can reinforce maze tiles, reposition monsters, or increase their strength. Totems provide passive upgrades to selected monsters or the whole roster. The adventurer returns after failed attempts with accumulated levels, creating an escalating challenge as the run continues toward the highest possible level.
How Maze Keeper plays
- 01Procedural Maze Runs
- Each playthrough generates a different labyrinth, with the starting layout available for rerolls before a run begins.
- 02Monster Families
- Different groups of creatures have distinct specializations, while higher-level monsters can require more difficult placement.
- 03Monster And Special Cards
- Cards can strengthen maze tiles, relocate creatures, or increase their combat strength.
- 04Totem Upgrades
- Totems grant passive powers to individual monsters or broader groups, shaping the available strategies.
- 05Growing Adventurer
- The invading adventurer gains levels across repeated attempts, increasing the pressure on the maze guardian.
