We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-puzzle players who want shape and color matching rather than combat-focused progression
- Creative players who want to build and publish custom stages
- Players seeking adjustable runs with timed, endless, maze, or relaxed challenge formats
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a single, linear campaign may find the mode-based structure less focused
- Players who prefer a small set of fixed challenges may find repeated shape-and-color matching too mechanical
- Players looking for climbing, broad exploration, or a story-led journey may prefer another action-puzzle game
Our take on Match 'Em
The broad set of modes and settings comes with a less concentrated core experience. Players move between runners, mazes, procedural exploration, relaxed challenges, and creation tools instead of following one tightly defined progression path.
What is Match 'Em?
Match 'Em is an action-puzzle game built around changing an avatar's form and color to correspond with incoming obstacles.
Players choose from 4 shapes and 4 tints, then guide the avatar through levels using a small set of controls. Runner includes community-made stages with varying difficulty. Explore generates terrain with hidden stars, enemies, optional time limits, and endless play. Chill provides infinite, timed, and gate-limited challenges. Maze-focused puzzles add triggers, walls, and doors. A built-in editor supports level testing, sharing, block types, dynamic trigger systems, background decoration, wall patterns, and music selection.
