Our take on Mandinga - A Tale of Banzo
Its tactical variety is concentrated in combat: dice, gear, and Dicesets shape fights, while the story and handcrafted world frame that system. Players seeking a game centered on broad exploration or multiple languages may find the experience more focused.
What is Mandinga - A Tale of Banzo?
Set in Brazil in 1826, this role-playing game follows Akil, a Muslim with skills including reading and writing, and Obadelê, a Yoruba capoeira warrior.
The two heroes join forces to fight for freedom amid injustice, violence, and oppression. Combat is turn-based and uses dice: gear, weapons, and skills shape tactical choices, while different Dicesets let players switch combat styles during a fight. Players unlock dice with special skills and assemble sets for different tactics. The game also includes an explorable, handcrafted world and a story based on a historical period in Brazil. Text is available in Brazilian Portuguese and English.
