Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for combat, exploration, or puzzle-driven gameplay rather than a kinetic novel
- Readers who want a highly interactive structure may bounce off the text-led format
- Players seeking English voice acting will not find it among the listed main-character performances
- Players affected by the documented Tokyo School Life save-data bug may encounter a restoration process
Our take on Malus Code
Players may bounce off at the kinetic-novel format if they expect direct gameplay such as combat or exploration. Japanese-study features add reading modes, but they do not change the story’s primarily text-led structure. The documented save-data issue may also create friction when restoring progress.
What is Malus Code?
Malus Code is a romance adventure kinetic novel with horror elements.
It follows Will, a graduate student who travels to Japan to study thermophiles because of the country’s many hot springs. At the university laboratory, he meets three people and spends time with them as their relationships develop and the story reaches its conclusion. The game includes Japanese performances for the three main characters, animated character presentation using E-mote, and a Japanese vocal opening song. Text can be shown in English, Japanese with or without furigana, hiragana, or romaji. Version 1. 02 addressed a save-data bug involving Tokyo School Life, and the game includes instructions for restoring affected saves.
