Play as an imprisoned criminal forced into gladiator battles in the Imperial city of Caertina.
Losing an arena fight while still a criminal ends the game, as does defeat in certain important battles. After leaving prison, travel between locations, choose which storylines to pursue, and influence changing situations and endings through those decisions. Battles and exploration use mouse controls, while the keyboard handles naming and fast-forwarding messages or battle scenes. Resting at an inn restores HP and saves game data.
Weapons and armor come from markets and exploration dungeons, can be enhanced, and alter fighting styles according to weapon type. Camp points can be spent on training. Money comes from tavern requests, item trading, tournament victories, and other methods. Characters can become a comrade after specific conditions are met.
