Our take on Lumione
The store presentation foregrounds the ocean journey and themes of hope, while the practical experience is a demanding platformer built around repeated failure, precision movement, traps, and 170 staged challenges.
What is Lumione?
Lumione is a side-scrolling platformer set beneath the ocean.
Players control Glimmer, a deep-sea fairy travelling through darkness in pursuit of the Light. Levels require jumping, climbing, gliding, and avoiding traps and other obstacles. Gliding allows movement in any direction for a short period, then needs recharging by landing or activating certain mechanics. The full game contains 170 levels and more than 10 gameplay mechanics, including neon beams and pinball-style elements. Progress depends on traversing each stage while avoiding hazards or using level mechanics to reach the end. The game combines concept art with 3D modelling and includes original music and sound effects.
How Lumione plays
- 01Rechargeable Gliding
- Glimmer can move freely in any direction while gliding once, with the ability restored by landing or activating specific mechanisms.
- 02Hazard-Filled Levels
- Stages combine jumps, climbs, traps, obstacles, and other challenges that must be navigated to reach the exit.
- 03Mechanic-Based Challenges
- More than 10 gameplay mechanics, including neon beams and pinball elements, can either obstruct progress or be used to advance.
- 04Ocean-Themed Presentation
- The deep-sea setting uses concept art, 3D modelling, original music, and sound effects.
