- Players who prefer not to divide attention between survival, attacks, lantern upkeep, and resource collection may find the central control system demanding.

Our take on LUMBERMANCER
The likely bounce point is the dual-control system: the wizard and log must be managed at the same time, while the wizard cannot directly defeat enemies or defend himself. Players who want a single controllable combatant may hit that wall before reaching the later areas or spell shop.
What is LUMBERMANCER?
LUMBERMANCER is an action game where players direct a wizard and a summoned log simultaneously.
The wizard casts spells, gathers resources, and travels through stages, but relies on logs to fight and stay safe. Four log types serve distinct roles: shovel logs plant seeds to replenish wood, sword logs attack up close, torch logs maintain the lantern, and arrow logs strike from afar. The game has four primary woodland areas, plus an endless forest that can be unlocked, a hidden boss, and a shop for exchanging souls for spells. The objective is to gather sandwich ingredients from forest creatures: the Ghost King, the Bell Witch, the Swamp, and the Devil.
How LUMBERMANCER plays

- 03Spell Shop
- Souls can be exchanged with Death for spells activated through joystick or keypad movements.
- 04Forest Areas
- The game has four main areas, an unlockable endless forest, and a secret boss.
- 05Sandwich Ingredients
- Progress involves collecting four ingredients from forest creatures and locations.
LUMBERMANCER compared to similar games
Unlike SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER, a runner with shooting elements, LUMBERMANCER centers on simultaneous wizard-and-log control, resource gathering, and changing log roles. Sundered®: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while LUMBERMANCER has four main forest areas, an unlockable endless forest, and a spell shop.
