Our take on Lootbound
The listing foregrounds squad building, loot, and adventure, but combat control is narrower than that framing suggests: only the main hero is directly controlled, while companions act independently. Build creation also depends on arranging equipment in an inventory grid, making item placement a central constraint.
What is Lootbound?
Lootbound is a tactical roguelite set in a dark-fantasy world.
Each run begins with only the hero, then expands through route choices, recruited companions, loot collection, and turn-based battles. Equipment for the hero and each ally occupies a shared inventory grid without fixed item slots, allowing pieces to be rotated and arranged. Some items emit effects that strengthen nearby weapons or armor, making placement part of build creation. The player controls the main hero during combat, while companions act independently. At biome endings, one of two boss components can be selected to alter the final Guardian's appearance and abilities. Special rooms offer rewards through choices with different difficulty levels and dice rolls.
How Lootbound plays
- 01Grid-Based Equipment
- Hero and companion items can be rotated and arranged in open inventory spaces rather than assigned to fixed slots.
- 02Adjacent Item Effects
- Certain equipment strengthens nearby weapons or armor, so moving an item can change the resulting build.
- 03Independent Companions
- Allied characters participate in fights but act without direct player control.
- 04Customizable Guardian
- Choosing between two boss components at each biome's end changes the final Guardian's appearance and power.
- 05Risk-Based Rewards
- Special rooms present reward options with varying difficulty, including dice-based attempts for more valuable prizes.
