Our take on Lone Fungus
The defining structure is an open-world Metroidvania where optional precision-platforming rooms sit alongside combat and exploration, letting progression remain focused on discovering routes and abilities.
What is Lone Fungus?
Lone Fungus is an open-world Metroidvania set in a world built by mushrooms, where the player controls the last mushroom alive.
Ten connected areas contain distinct enemies, obstacles, secrets, and rewards. New abilities, permanent boss upgrades, Relics, Emblems, and health or Mindpoint improvements open routes and support different combat builds. Combat includes sword attacks, optional parries, projectiles, and spells affected by how the sword strikes. The game includes 33 bosses, four difficulty modes, optional precision-platforming rooms, practice rooms, and an Assist Mode with six adjustable features. Relics support defensive, healing, speed, melee, and spell-focused builds.

Lone Fungus compared to similar games
Sundered: Eldritch Edition is also described as a Metroidvania, while Lone Fungus centers on a mushroom-built open world with ten areas, ability-gated exploration, 33 bosses, and configurable builds. The other listed alternatives focus on climbing, third-person shooting, or runner-shooter gameplay rather than the same Metroidvania structure.
