Our take on Locomotive 115
The short format keeps the journey focused, but it limits the time available for exploration, narrative development, and repeated play. Its central balancing system also leaves less room for players who want combat or exploration without managing locomotive controls.
What is Locomotive 115?
Locomotive 115 is a single-player survival horror game set on the Widow's Run mountain pass.
As the only engineer aboard, the player must keep the locomotive moving by balancing its heat, steam, and speed. Excess or insufficient levels can bring the journey to an end. Creatures drawn to heat and movement attack the train, requiring defense with a double-barrel shotgun and the locomotive's whistle. The journey also includes exploration of the pass and the discovery of hidden secrets. Progress follows a forward-moving route through storms, deadly cold, and darkness. The horror narrative is approximately 40 minutes long.
