Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who dislike word puzzles may hit a wall when spells require spelling incantations from floating fragments
- Players who prefer a consistently serious tone may bounce off the comic situations and strange humor
- Players seeking a realistic setting may not enjoy its magical wilderness and wizard prisons
Our take on Leximan
The clearest bounce point is the spell system: encounters ask players to use floating word fragments to form incantations. Anyone who finds word puzzles frustrating may stall at that core interaction, before the story’s odd characters and magical settings have a chance to carry the experience.
What is Leximan?
Leximan is an adventure game about language-based magic at Academy Elementinia.
The player casts spells by taking floating word fragments and spelling out incantations. The story begins when the school is attacked and follows a basement wizard with the power of Leximancy. Players encounter word puzzles and minigames, explore magical wilderness, cities where people hate wizards, and prisons, and meet characters including potion witches, a policewoman, and a pyromancer. Spells can summon, soothe, enlarge, enrage, or explode. The game also includes situations where players can fail, and a task involving giving hats to hat goblins.
