Our take on Lex Mortis
The open island gives up a tightly guided route in favor of free exploration. That design choice leaves players to investigate locations in their own order, while the day-night structure separates daytime mystery work from nighttime enemy encounters.
What is Lex Mortis?
Lex Mortis takes place on Berdwood, a fictional island in Northern Europe, where the population of about 2,000 people has disappeared.
The protagonist returns to their birthplace on June 28, 2017, and investigates what happened to the inhabitants. The island is open from the start, with forests, fields, abandoned villages, mines, mountains, and other areas to explore. Working vehicles provide faster travel across the island. Daytime focuses on studying the island and its mysteries, while enemies emerge after nightfall. A choice later in the story affects the fate of Berdwood’s inhabitants. The game has two endings, and exploration does not require rushing through the main story.
