Our take on Learn Programming: Python - Retro
The terminal presentation keeps the experience centered on text and exercises, at the expense of the modern interface features found in the Remake. This edition also omits some lesson text and images that the Remake restores.
What is Learn Programming: Python - Retro?
Learn Programming: Python - Retro is a terminal-based educational game for beginners with no assumed programming background.
Lessons introduce computational thinking, Python programming, and object-oriented programming, with challenges embedded throughout. These include multiple-choice questions, short answers, and math problems. The course covers conditionals, loops, data structures, functions, recursion, objects, exceptions, file input and output, and libraries. The game is packaged with a portable Python environment, so Python does not need to be installed to run the executable. It also offers selectable color schemes. The game engine's source code is available separately, but does not include the lesson data. The vendor says the Remake restores some lesson text and images omitted from this version and includes additional features.
