Our take on Kor
The colorful presentation, eccentric characters, and palette options stand out, while the central challenge comes from executing attack inputs during turn-based battles. Fast-paced puzzles are also part of the journey, making the game more active than a conventional menu-driven RPG.
What is Kor?
Kor is a retro RPG set in an alien world presented as an augmented-reality game.
Combat combines turn-based planning with button combinations that must be executed quickly for more effective attacks. Players navigate fast-paced puzzles, battle enemies, and compete in a tournament while choosing abilities from six schools: Nature, Fire, Water, Shadow, Earth, and Storm. A short-range teleport skill supports puzzle solving and access to places normally out of reach. Character development includes manually assigned stat points, and an optional story mode accompanies the intended challenging difficulty.
The presentation uses pixel-by-pixel artwork, a 160x144 base resolution, and 21 palettes that change the whole game. The story includes eccentric characters, unusual dialogue, and an outcome hinted at by the phrase “Or not... ”
