Our take on Kona
Rather than treating adventure as a straightforward journey, Kona combines detective work with exposure to extreme weather. Its investigation unfolds through an isolated 1970s setting, where the missing population and surreal events replace a conventional cast of suspects and witnesses.
What is Kona?
Set in Northern Canada in October 1970, Kona follows private detective Carl Faubert after a snowstorm isolates him in the Atamipek Lake region.
His investigation begins with reported vandalism at an industrialist’s hunting manor, but he soon finds the area deserted and faces unexplained events. The game combines mystery investigation with survival against severe cold and a remote environment. Exploration takes place across a broad, wintry setting, while an omniscient narrator presents the story. Its presentation draws on the appearance of rural communities in the 1970s, and its soundtrack includes music from Quebec folk band CuréLabel. The narrative centers on uncovering what happened to the missing inhabitants and understanding the strange occurrences surrounding the village.
