Our take on Kidnelis
Its focus on sentence reading and reconstruction limits variety in the core activity. The three input methods add different forms of practice, but the experience remains centered on literacy exercises rather than broader game mechanics.
What is Kidnelis?
Kidnelis presents sentences for players to read and understand before deciding whether each is true or false.
The sentence is then hidden, and players recreate it by arranging word bricks, typing on a keyboard, or writing with a digital pen or finger. The game focuses on reading, sentence structure, attention, understanding, short-term memory, imagination, drawing, and handwriting practice. Players can also discuss the credibility of statements with family, friends, or teachers and consider the opposite version of a sentence. It is aimed at children aged 6 and older, language learners, and older adults. The game is adapted from a board game developed by Carles Rodrigo, Doctor in Pedagogy.
How Kidnelis plays
- 01Sentence Reconstruction
- Players recreate hidden sentences by arranging word bricks, typing, or writing by hand.
- 02Truth Judgments
- Each sentence is evaluated as true or false before reconstruction.
- 03Three Input Modes
- Word bricks provide correction feedback, keyboard input uses a QWERTY layout, and handwriting accepts a digital pen or finger.
- 04Discussion Prompts
- Statements can be discussed with family, friends, or teachers, including consideration of their opposite versions.
