Our take on Jishogi
Its puzzles borrow chess and shogi pieces as a theme but work as 2D spatial challenges closer to solitaire than either board game.
What is Jishogi?
Jishogi combines spatial puzzles with a story about Mayu, a quiet girl whose mind is invaded by Fifield, a witch and her bully.
The puzzles use chess and shogi pieces as visual themes, but do not require knowledge of either game; they play more like solitaire than board-game chess or shogi. Color-coded pieces and in-game help support puzzle solving, and a mode with lower difficulty is available. The story also includes walking-simulator and visual-novel sections, with choices shaped by moral ambiguity and themes including revenge, forgiveness, talent, ethics, and sexuality. The game contains between 3 and 10 hours of content, depending on puzzle-solving speed and how many endings are pursued.
How Jishogi plays
